About
Caroline is an artist and art educator based in Aotearoa New Zealand. She is drawn to the changing character of local landscapes, finding inspiration in the way light, weather, season and place continually transform the environment. Her work is influenced by both wondering and wandering — exploring landscapes, observing their details, and recording the experiences and memories connected to particular places.
Working across a range of painting mediums including acrylic, gouache and alcohol markers, Caroline explores the unique qualities and possibilities each medium offers. Her approach moves between detailed observation and expressive interpretation, allowing the medium and process to become part of the storytelling.
Having completed a BFA with Honours and MFA at Massey University, Caroline continues to develop her practice through ongoing exploration and engagement with the landscapes of Aotearoa. Alongside her artistic practice, she works as an art educator, encouraging others to explore their own ways of seeing and responding to the world around them.
